Spring Trenches

I grew up in Northwestern Ontario – not only are winter's cold, but the longest season. When I moved to Southern Ontario I quickly embraced shorter winters, even if that meant rainy springs.

A good trench always makes a rainy day brighter. My last 'trench coat' may have been fashion-forward, however it was the furthest thing from practical. Realistically, the only thing that classified it as a trench was the belt and double-breast. It was waist-length, 3/4 length sleeves, and lacked a hood. Even with an umbrella I was soaked.

My spring wish list seems to be getting longer and longer, but a practical – fashionable! – trench is definitely a priority. Read on to see a few of my favourites this season:

Betsey Johnson, The Bay

Lauren Ralph Lauren, The Bay

London Fog, The Bay

Ideally my perfect trench would be a light colour. A light yellow or robin-egg-blue would be the perfect find. I despise rainy days, so if I have to be out-and-about in the rain I would much prefer to be wearing a soft colour! (...I would never survive in Vancouver)

To me white is a winter coat colour, but the detailing on the Betsey Johnson trench makes it much more appealing. While the Banana Republic trench is white, I like the length.
